Today, life in an urban environment means life surrounded by chaos. This chaos is experienced in a magnitude of ways, one of which is through the lens of street art. Its variety of forms merge seamlessly to tell the story of a diverse city. Street art is unconventional by its nature at a fundamental level. However, its installations are widespread. It has affirmed itself as art, giving people a voice. I love the concept of undeniable beauty thriving against convention.
Having no limits, street art is constantly disappearing, changing, and reappearing, just like its artists and audiences. This project aims to highlight the opportunities street art creates in the urban environment. A piece of furniture inspired and encouraged by street art around the world.
By nature, an empty table is a space that people are encouraged to occupy. An empty table offers a chance for diverse collaboration. It is a space where discussion takes place, where decisions are made, where we reflect and move forward, together. It is a blank canvas for creation, just as the city is a blank canvas for street art.
Street art is an accessible, powerful, and thought-provoking art form. I hope to pass on these principles through my design. Freedom to express critical values and form connections to open minds and hearts can ultimately enrich the lives of all people. My design stands and speaks to these extraordinarily beautiful elements that we have the luxury to experience every day in our urban streets.
